So ungesund sind Silikone wirklich

This is how bad silicones are for your health

What are silicones and where are they used?

Silicones are artificially produced (synthetic) polymers. They are manufactured in laboratories on the basis of raw oil and are used in cosmetics, but also in paints and varnishes. You can find them in skin creams, make-up or in your shampoo.

All disadvantages of Silicones - and their supposed advantages

Silicones promise a lot: smoother skin, shiny hair or less wrinkles. The issue is, synthetic substances have a purely visual effect that only lasts until you wash it off again. Many silicones actually accumulate and harm you and the environment in the long term. Although they hardly cause allergies and are very well tolerated by the skin, the so-called build-up effect can occur. Multiple layers of silicone build up on your skin and in your hair and care substances such as high-quality plant-based oils can’t access your body. As a long term result, it causes dry skin, dandruff, flat hair and a scalp that quickly gets oily. If you want to tint or dye your hair, you should stay away from silicones - these make both processes much more difficult. People with sensitive skin should double check the ingredients, as the built up silicones can cause irritation and allergic reactions. These substances are a wolf in sheep's clothing of the beauty industry. They are used mainly because they offer a cheaper alternative to oils that can be manufactured industrially.

Silicones – a problem for the planet

Silicones harm not only you but also the climate. As they are artificial, and therefore foreign to the environment, they are difficult to degrade biologically. Still, tons of silicones are flushed into the sewage with our shampoos etc. and get stuck in water, plants and fish. Silicones also attract toxins and let toxic substances accumulate.

Nature instead of silicones: nevernot Smoothie

Anti-Chafing Gels or Sticks help you out with sore and irritated spots. For example, when your thighs rub against each other in the summer, when you get sores from exercising or you tend to get blisters on your feet. However, most conventional anti-chafing products use silicone - and that is unhealthy. That's why we started looking for a natural alternative and developed our own recipe with a Berlin natural cosmetics manufacturer. Not only is it not harmful, it’s also particularly nourishing, regenerative and anti-inflammatory thanks to the natural power ingredients: tiger grass, vitamin E and jojoba oil.
